The small cruise ship the MV Explorer

June 1994 The local Pilot John Nicholls brought this small cruise ship the MV Explorer into the quay at high water for an hour or so - the first time it had been done with a ship this size ! Thirteen years later in Nov. 2007 in the early hours she hit an Iceberg while in Antarctica waters and sank about 20 hours later. Everyone on board was rescued from the life rafts. Local Bob Flood from Scilly was on board as a group leader at the time !.....Robin Mawer
