The 98 ft. Brigantine "La Malouine " in Porthcressa today . She was built as a tug named Bogdan (one of 16 similar ships) in Gdansk in Poland in1972. She worked in East Germany until 1992 when she was bought by a Dutchman who converted her ( with a sister ship ) into identical Brigantines called " Willem " and " Wytske Eelke " so they could race against each other . In 2010 she was bought by a Frenchman and renamed La Malouine to operate in the Channel Islands and in the Winter in the Cape Verde Islands. She was later bought by a British Charitable Organisation base in Dumfries to give free training trips for under privileged children and now is British Flagged and registered........Robin Mawer
