Summer always reminds me of this Dragon Rapide in which I took my
first flight from Land's End to St.Mary's.Much more 'personable' than
a city airport. The BEA pilot told us that he was on a 'busman's
holiday' from the larger aircraft he flew the rest of the year.He told
us that he would 'buzz' the islands for us flying in low over the
harbour and beaches which was exciting.
I do'nt remember a concrete runway just grass and the enginges
revving and getting up to speed and the soft bumps of the airfield
gave way to lift and a very smooth flight.
Later that day we met Vic the bus owner/driver and Wilf the town crier.
